Foods that help you burn belly fat

As we get older, it becomes easier to gain weight. Some studies show that two in three adults are overweight or obese. The fat that accumulates in our abdominal area can be especially noticeable. It also can be the most difficult to get rid of.

One of the most proven ways to reduce fat is to make good eating choices. Reducing belly fat can be as simple as changing just few choices a day. The standard fat reducing advice applies: eat lean meats and high fiber fruits and vegetables. High-fiber vegetables include broccoli, cabbage, sweet corn, and tomatoes. Delicious high fiber fruits include peaches, nectarines, and berries.

But besides the standard advice, some foods burn belly fat in particular.

Drink plenty of water or unsweetened ice tea. Water and tea increase your metabolism and help your body burn fat. In one study, tea drinkers burned 266 more calories per day than non-tea drinkers.

Oatmeal is one of the best breakfast choices you can make. Being high in fiber, oatmeal fills you up and helps with digestion. But be sure to buy plain, unflavored oatmeal. Flavored oatmeal contains unwanted sugars and other chemicals.

Unsalted nuts make a great between-meal snack. They help keep your belly full better than other “good” snacks like rice cakes or wheat thins.

Eggs are a powerful belly fat fighting weapon. They contain protein and anti-oxidants needed for good health. They also contain an amino acid called leucine that acts as a catalyst for increased fat burning.

Low-fat or fat-free yogurt is another great food. The high calcium content in yogurt helps break down fat in your body. It may even assist in keeping fat from forming to start with.

These are some of the excellent foods that can help you get rid of your belly. Make good choices and you will be well on your way to your goal.
